Built For Freeze–Thaw Cycles And Summer Heat In Potomac, MD
Between sudden spring downpours, leaf-clogged inlets in the fall, and plow blades in winter, pavement around Potomac, MD takes a beating. We design mixes and compaction plans for our region’s freeze–thaw swings, set grades for proper sheet flow, and seal edges to keep water out. Good asphalt isn’t just blacktop — it’s base strength, drainage, and timing. Our crew builds surfaces that handle school pickups, delivery trucks, and hot July afternoons without ruts or puddles.

Potomac, MD SUCCESS STORY
Full Estate Driveway Replacement with Decorative Edge Detail
Project Snapshot
A Potomac homeowner with a long curved driveway approaching a large colonial home contacted Ace Paving after the existing surface had cracked extensively and begun to show alligator-pattern deterioration near the center. The driveway was a key feature of the property’s curb appeal and needed to look the part.
Challenges
The curved layout was over 300 feet with a sweeping bend that required precise grading to maintain drainage across the full length. Alligatoring in the center sections indicated base saturation from a slow downspout drain that had been dripping onto the pavement for years. The source needed to be addressed before new asphalt went down.
Solution
Ace Paving worked with the homeowner to redirect the downspout drain away from the driveway path before demolition began. The full surface was removed, the base was regraded and compacted, and new hot-mix asphalt was installed on the proper grade. A clean machine-cut edge was finished along the full length of both sides.
Results
The finished driveway looked sharp from the road and drained correctly throughout the curve. The homeowner was specific about wanting clean edges, and the result matched the property’s upscale character.
“For what we spent on the house, the driveway was embarrassing. Ace did a beautiful job — the edges are perfect and it drains the way it should. Multiple neighbors have already asked who did the work.”
